September came, and now it’s about to end. But it wouldn’t be complete without a celebration for Pats’ special day. This post is actually late. Still, here it is. :p
Happy Birthday Pats!
Last year, we’ve celebrated it with a bit of class and cholesterol. This time though, Pats wanted it to be simple and inexpensive. So, we’ve thought of having a simple picnic at a park. Just the two of us. So, I’ve started my research for a good place to lay the picnic mat and bring the picnic basket.
We ended up at Bukit Jalil Park, a 20-minutes drive from our place. The park was really nice and well-maintained. And since it was a weekday, it wasn’t crowded. Actually, there were like 2 or 3 other people when we arrived. Eventually, a few joggers came.
Thanks Jules for lending us your car, and Tonette for the picnic basket. 🙂
Fortunately, the weather somehow cooperated with our plan. It did rain, but it was hours before we left the house and when I was still cooking and baking our picnic food: Lemon Roasted Chicken with Bacon, and Strawberry Meringue Layer Cake (with Almonds). No pic for the chicken though, not that presentable… :p
By the time we reached the parking lot, rain already stopped. So, we were able to proceed with our plan without any worries. After settling and taking photos of the birthday girl, we started munching away. Fortunately, food was edible. Haha.
Aside from the gluttony, we took a short trip to few nearby countries. Since Pats loves to travel, the park was a perfect setting for our simple celebration.
And just when we were about to finish our not-so-around-the-world trip, rain started to pour again. But we had ample time to wrap up and get back to our ride… really cooperative.
And later that day, our birthday surprise took place at her unit. And, it was a success! With few of Pats’ friends, we’ve finished her special day with good food and laughter, and hopefully, good memories.
Again, Happy Birthday Pats! :*
By the way, thanks Jaoie and Chelsea for taking over the surprise party. And, thanks to those who came and brought food. 😉
